Forgetful!

Call me forgetful, but for the life of me, I cannot remember how to change the coloring of the writing on my blog?!?!?!  Is there anyone out there who can teach an old dog new tricks?  Thanks for coming to my rescue...

Giving it a second try...

Ok, so I have decided that I am giving this blog thing a second chance. I need a place to get my ideas and thoughts out and since I spend a majority, ok, all my time with three kids under 5, my brain needs that retreat for my sanity's sake. Here's to hoping this time it lasts. I remember as a little girl having favorite outfits. I would then hold on to these favorite items of clothing till they were literally full of holes and unraveling at every seam. In fact, I can think of two that my mom actually threw away when I wasn't looking. (She paid dearly for that I am sure). But I can think of three outfits in particular. Outfit #1: ages 3-5 years; a little denim skirt with pink ribbons sewn around it. It was the best outfit ever. It was perfect for twirling, dancing, running through the corral (I grew up on a little farm). Perfect for running down the dirt road with no shoes on, and perfect for visiting my grandparents who lived so close I could make it to their house in less than thirty seconds if I ran my fastest. It was just......perfect! It's no wonder I never wanted to take it off. Outfit #2: ages 5-10 years; Stretch pants. Pink! Oh, how I loved these pink stretch pants! I loved them till they went from pants to capris and capris to shorts. Yes, amazingly they lasted that long. These lil' beauties made hours and hours of Barbies some of my most fondest childhood memories. Riding my first horse, bareback mind you, the ultimate dream of any little girl-it beat riding a pony way out of the water! But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. My family got embarrassed of me running around with more holes than material and they were thrown away while I slept. Farewell, pink stretch pants-you were soooo good to me. And last, but not least, Outfit #3: ages 11-13 years; Bright green stretch pants! Don't ask me why, but there was just something about these "food for the eyes" pants. My second mom, told me once that they could spot me coming a mile away in these flashers they were so bright! Maybe it was the comfort of the soft material. Ok, not really-it was the color. I mean c'mon, it was the 90's and everyone loved the florecents (sp)! They may not admit it, but they did. I am not sure what happend to these jewels of fabric. They have probably turned to dust somewhere in my parents basement. Now, you are probably wondering why on earth I am blogging about memories of old clothes-well, I shall tell thee! I have noticed for the past several months that everyday, my 5 year old daughter puts on the same outfit. I tell her to change and she doesn't. I buy her cute new clothes and she won't wear them. People who see us on a regular basis, think that she owns nothing esle. You might ask yourself, "ok, so what is this outfit she wears everyday?" Answer: a brown little skirt with little pink flowers. Perfect for playing chase with dad, twirling, climbing trees, swinging, dancing and running her fastest to anywhere she can go. Just......perfect! Maybe there is some of me in her-and I can't think of anything else more wonderful! Thanks for reading.....

Happy Father's Day!

This is one of those letters that more than likely my dad will never read, but I am going to write it any way.
I feel really lucky that I have a dad that has always been a part of my life. He has always taken an active role in the things that I have done and has shown me on more than one occassion that he will drop everything to come to my aid. I have never questioned his love for me, my mom or my siblings (even through my awful "parents are lame" teenage phase). His love for us has always been evident in the things that he has done for us. He is more of a "I show my love for you by the things that I do for you" kind of father. But he will never shy away from a hug and an "I love you". He takes the time to call me regularly and asks real sincere questions about how I am doing. That means the world to me. All these things mean the world to me! I admire that he is always himself-no matter who is present-he is who he is! Dad you are a hard worker and you don't quit. It is those two lessons you taught me that helped me-daily-on my mission, and even as a wife and mother.
Dad, I could write all night about you and still never quite get it all, but I want you to know that I love you, I respect you, I am grateful that you are a part of my life-a very special part. I know I don't say it often enough or even at the times that you maybe need to hear it most, but thank you for being my dad and a good one! Happy Father's Day!!!

can my last wish be for more wishes?!?!?

I wish...
I would have stuck with playing the piano. My mom told me I would regret quitting one day. (One of the millions of things she is right about).
I wish...
flowers grew as quick and thick as weeds.
I wish...
I could go back to Singapore and E. Malaysia. Sometimes I miss them so much that parts of me ache-mostly my heart.
I wish...
I were better at showing appreciation to people who help me along my way. Sometimes I think all I do is think about me.
I wish...
they didn't show The People's Court on TV. While we're on this topic, I wish they didn't show blood and guts on TV either. Grosses me out!
I wish...
I had a bike. Just an FYI for those of you who have stuck with me through my non-blogging months-I didn't learn to ride a bike till I was eight. I have a fear of trying new things-it's a fear as real as my fear of sharks.
I wish...
raising kids was easier. No need to elaborate-it speaks for itself.
I wish...
I was a more eloquent speaker. Sometimes when I am talking, I wonder what in the world I am even trying to say.
I wish...
my children knew their Great Grandpa Hiskey. They would have loved him-just like I did-and still do!
I wish...
my kids would stay in their own beds Honestly-it is an every night thing!
I wish...
I were more content with the things I have and not so concerned with the things I don't! I really am quite blessed. I, like many of you, have things I want to work on, but I really want to just be able, at the end of the day, say, "Thank you for all that I have."

oh, what to blog about?

It seems like throughout my day little ideas of what I could share with you all pop into my head, but the minute I sit down...nothing. My mind draws a blank and I am left feeling that my life is uneventful. I will not complain that each day is somewhat like the day before. I realize that it won't always be this way and that really, I should just enjoy it.
I do want to make a confession though-I read the tabloid covers at the grocery store checkout lines. No, I don't feel embarrassed or ashamed...all I do is read them, I don't buy them.

Baby #3

Well, he made it! He acutally made it 5 weeks ago today....(sorry that I am now just getting around to posting about it). He weighed in at 8lbs even and a good 19.5 inches long. All went well with his arrival and we are, I think, adjusting pretty well. His older sister and brother absolutely love him to pieces and are very sweet and gentle with him-thank heavens! We do have a problem though with being a little more quiet when the baby is sleeping. But all things considered-life seems to be pretty good at the moment. Thank you to those who have helped us-meals, play-dates, visits, gifts, phone calls, etc....we have been very thankful for all the acts of kindness shown to us!

Still around!

Hello there friends (if you will let me still call you that).

I realize that I haven't been the most faithful blogger, now you know how my journal feels (it gets visited less often than my blog). I do apologize! This winter was slow and it reflected in my blogging mood. But Spring is here and suddenly I feel an "urge" to blog. Actually that "urge" has a name...Lisa, my sister. She gently nudged me and told me to get busy updating! So with what little I have to update...here it is!

January...nothing

February...nothing

March...ok finally something! A baby. No it's not here yet, but soon! If this little wiggle worm isn't here by next Wednesday, then my angel doctor(heart him) said he would let me be induced then. So waiting till the very last day of the month-our family will grow by one! We are getting very excited. My four year old tells him quite often how much she loves him and asks to hug him morning and night and several times in between! My two year old, also gets caught up in the spirit of making him feel welcome by playing cars with him. Thats right, this stomach of mine has become the best down hill race track ever for cars of all sizes...it has quite the slope to it! Just when you feel you can't get bigger...you do. But I feel that I can't justify my complaining, because I am just about done. What once was a flicker of light at the end of a 9 month long tunnel is suddenly a train brighting me one week away! Now is when I get nervous and wonder how I am going to handle all of this. Luckily, I have a wonderful husband who is great with our children and they absolutely adore him. He helps when he can and when I let him:)! My children, I have no doubt, will want in on the helping action. Isn't that what 4 and 2 year olds do-help?!?!? I remind them daily of things that they will be able to help me with, but I have this strange little feeling that they will exceed my expectations of being my third and fourth hands.

I find comfort in seeing other mothers who have had more than two children and I think, if they can do and survive, I can too. I read a quote on a friends Facebook. It seems to fit into this stage of my life (I think I might adopt it as my motto for the next 20 years). "Insanity is hereditary. You get it from your kids." I wish I could give the quoted the respect of a name and then a huge high five, because that's right on!

Being a mom though is the greatest thing I have ever done in my life and if all it takes is a few rough patches here and there, then count me in and in forever, because it is so rewarding. Not rewarding in the way that most of the world sees it, but in a way that only a mom could see it and feel it. So here's to my insanity, my last week of waiting, to my beautiful children who make every day interesting and to all of you remaing few who have patiently waited a post on this blog....cheers!!!

About Me

Elder Marvin J. Ashton once stated, " No matter how or where we find ourselves, we cannot with any justification label ourselves 'nobody'. As children of God we are somebody." With that said, I am a mommy, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, neighbor and friend.
